The PWS Research plan was created by brining together 65 top physicians and scientists at a Workshop funded by the US National Institutes of Health, FPWR, the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, PWSA(USA) and  FPWR Canada.  The recommendations from this Workshop were used to develop a plan that outlines the priority resources and research questions to efficiently advance the understanding and treatment of PWS.  You can find more information on the details of the plan and original workshop here.
 
Raising the Money
The International One SMALL Step Walkathon is a way for people to raise money all over the world.  We invite families and organizations to host a walk in their area.  Individual participants can then register to walk at the closest walk location and raise money.  All proceeds are used to fund the PWS Research Plan, created by the top PWS researchers in the world.  
 
Funding the PWS Research Plan
Funds are donated to FPWR in the US or one of the local FPWR affiliates (e.g., FPWR Canada or FPWR UK), and grants are administered through FPWR, with the active input and participation of stakeholders, including members of the PWSA(USA) scientific advisory board as well as parent advocates from our community.  A collaborative and rigorous grant review process ensures that we are funding the highest quality projects that directly address the goals outlined in the PWS Research Plan.   Quarterly progress reports to the PWS community outlining how the funds are being expended and as well as returns on investments will be posted on this website.  Input from all members of the PWS community is welcomed.  For the first report of progress, please click HERE.
