As many of you already know Avery was diagnosed with Prader Willi Syndrome when she was 3 months  old. We have grown to understand the struggles of raising a special needs child. Particularly with the challenges we face on a day to day basis specifically behavioral problems, low muscle tone, and keeping  Avery on a strict diet in order to maintain her weight. We have found along the way another family right here in Butler that also has a child with Prader  Willi Syndrome.  In some respects this has been a blessing for us to know that there are other families that we can talk to and that understand what it means to have a special needs child. But in other respects it is a harsh reality to know that there are other children who suffer or will suffer like Avery does. The foundation for Prader Willie Syndrome has provided an opportunity for us to take action and to raise money for extensive research in order to find a cure for Prader Willi, or at the least to find a way to ease the hunger that these children will face everyday for the rest of their lives. There is a 5K walk coming for the first time to Pittsburgh on September 8^th 2012 at North Boundary Park and Waterpark. Registration starts at 9:00 and the walk starts at 10:00. All proceeds from the walks go to fund the Prader Willi Research Plan jointly created by FPWR and PWSAUSA.
