Host an Event

"Having a child with PWS required me to redefine myself and I lost a part of myself in the process.  Hosting a walk forced me to step
outside my comfort zone, but when the walk was over, I realized
I found a part of me I thought was gone.  I got my mojo back."

-- Gretchen Golub, 2011 Williamsburg, VA Host

"Hosting a walk has empowered me to take charge of my life.  It has allowed my family to heal.  We are whole
again and we are determined to eliminate the challenge of PWS.  Taking one small step has changed my life!"

-- Colette Joncas, 2012 Apple Valley, MN Host

Thank you for considering hosting a One SMALL Step event! Proceeds from One SMALL Step events fund the Prader-Willi Research Plan, jointly supported by FPWR and PWSA-USA.  You can make the difference in the lives of those with Prader-Willi Syndrome!  We are taking One SMALL Step to raise funds and awareness for Prader-Willi Syndrome.  Your event can be large or small, an intimate gathering or an event for your entire community.  Whether planning a walk for 5, 50 or 500 people, we provide you with the support to make hosting an event as easy as setting a date, inviting your friends and walking!

Top 5 Reasons to host a One SMALL Step event

  1. Take Control! - We may not be able to take away PWS but we can fund research so someday our children don't  have to feel the endless hunger!  Hosting a walk empowers you and allows you to make a difference TODAY.

  2. All proceeds from One SMALL Step events fund Prader-Willi research - 100% of proceeds from One SMALL Step events are used to fund research projects asdescribed in the Prader-Willi Research Plan, supported by both FPWR and PWSA-USA.

  3. Walk planning support - Our One SMALL Step coordinators are here to help you through the planning process. It doesn't matter if your event is for 5, 50 or 500 people; we help you work your walk plans into your personal schedule and make planning a walk as simple as choosing a location, inviting your friends and WALKING!  We have templates available to help get you started as well as monthly webinars to address your planning questions.

  4. Expense reimbursement - FPWR reimburses hosts for walk expenses so no money needs to be spent out of your own pocket.

  5. Easy to use online donation system - Our One SMALL Step online system has been customized to meet the needs of our walk hosts! This easy to use system is guaranteed to increase your walk donations and simplify walk management!

  6. BONUS!  Be a part of an amazing team! - Our team of enthusiastic parents and members of the PWS community work together to collaborate and encourage our hosts throughout the campaign.

Our One SMALL Step walk coordinators are here to facilitate your planning during monthly phone conferences and are available to answer any of your planning questions. To help make hosting an event easier,FPWR will provide your event with One SMALL Step t-shirts, literature and an event webpage (http://onesmallstep.fpwr.org).

All donations, large and small take us one step closer to funding our Prader-Willi Research Plan and allowing our children to reach their fullest potential. Thank you for supporting Prader-Willi Research!
