We are so excited to announce that we will be hosting our 3rd Annual One Small Step Event in Mission Viejo, CA at the Mission Viejo Clubhouse on Sunday, September 24th from 10am-12pm, raising funds for the Foundation for Prader-Willi Research.
Our daughter, Peyton, has Prader-Willi Syndrome, a rare genetic condition that effects one in 15,000-30,000. There are many concerns when it comes to Prader-Willi Syndrome; low muscle tone, delayed speech, cognition, scoliosis, eye problems, behavioral issues, etc, but the biggest struggle is the insatiable appetite. This is the one piece that holds our kids back from leading an independent life. Many of you have followed Peyton's progress from when she was diagnosed at 4 weeks old, going home with a feeding tube, needing oxygen for her 1st year, all of her many hours of therapy, to where she is now...thriving. Today, we struggle with many things, the biggest are her behavioral issues, her oppositional mind, and having to closely monitor her diet. We are dedicated to raising money for the FPWR. We know that this research will directly impact Peyton's life and all kids with PWS.
There are many ways you can participate and support us!
1. Join us at the event on September 24th.
This is a FREE event and all are welcome. This is a fun event for the kids. There will be a fun run, there is a playground, we will have kids crafts, and face painting. We are also working on some fun stuff for the adults. There will be more details to follow. Please RSVP and follow for updates here: https://www.facebook.com/events/1786151135008941/?acontext=%7B%22source%...
2. Donate directly to Team Peyton. Every donation made during the month of August will be matched, up to $200,000!!!! We are so grateful to an anonymous family, whose young daughter has PWS, they are challenging this matching opportunity to all those that donate to the FPWR (Foundation for Prader-Willi Research).
We have been so humbled by the continued generosity of our friends and family. We are so passionate about raising money because we know the impact, we know that this research changes Peyton's life. For us, it is our life commitment to Peyton. For you, it is sincere generosity, and we are beyond grateful. If you feel the call to donate, you can donate through our walk page here on our walk page.
3. Walk to raise money for FPWR!
If you feel so inclined, you can set up your own fundraising page to send out to your friends and family. If you have any questions, we are happy to help you do it, or, register here: http://onesmallstep.fpwr.org/dw/user/register_oss
Lots of Love,
Brent, Renee, Chad and Peyton
P.S. I am currently working on a 2017 video for Peyton so that you can see all of her amazing progress.
